Things to do in the Central Highlands

The Central Highlands are an inland region of plateaus, coffee farms and minority villages, not the coastline of central Vietnam. Come for the countryside, a cup in Buon Ma Thuot, the country's coffee capital, and the stilt-house villages around Kon Tum.

Distances are long and the roads slow, so allow several days rather than a stop between beaches; a day trip from Nha Trang does not work. Flights reach regional airports such as Buon Ma Thuot, while buses and private cars climb from the coast in many hours. Expect roughly 15-40 EUR a day outside tours in 2026, with a private driver costing noticeably more.

The coastal typhoon calendar does not apply here: the wet months run roughly May to October. Da Lat, at about 1,500 m, has its own page.
