Things to do in Ninh Binh
Ninh Binh is about 100 km south of Hanoi and is often called a Ha Long Bay on land. The comparison only goes so far: there is no sea here, just rice fields, limestone pinnacles and small rowing boats on rivers.
The Trang An Landscape Complex is the only UNESCO-listed part (2014); Tam Coc, Hoa Lu and Mua Cave are neighbouring sights, not inscribed in the same way. A boat ride at Trang An or Tam Coc takes roughly two to three hours and costs in the region of 6 to 12 EUR per person in 2026, plus a tip for the rower.
Mua Cave involves around 500 steps to a viewpoint, best done early before the heat builds. A day trip is possible, but one night gives you quieter mornings once the coaches leave.
